Discipline 

A professional regulatory discipline process is intended to maintain standards of practice within a profession by addressing complaints and misconduct. This process aims to protect the public by ensuring that professionals adhere to established ethical and professional standards. It typically involves the investigation of allegations and may include a hearing to determine if misconduct  or incompetence occurred, and the implementation of appropriate sanctions or corrective actions if necessary. The ultimate goal is to uphold the integrity of the profession and ensure public trust in the services provided by a profession's members.

The ASFP disciplinary process is established to determine members and former members:

1. 1. professional misconduct, or 

   2. professional incompetence.
