The Department of Justice (Canada) is seeking applicants who can prepare an expert report and provide expert testimony in forestry to the Specific Claims Tribunal.
This individual will be required to determine the amount of timber that was cut on the claim lands in the early 1900s and the net financial benefit which would probably have accrued to those Bands from forestry activities carried out that yielded marketable products at fair market prices. The work will include: site inspections of the claim lands and surrounding lands; review of historical documents (some documents supplied, but additional independent research is necessary); preparation of an expert report that comments on the Claimant First Nation’s expert report, in addition to their own independent expert opinion regarding whether there was any timber harvested from the Reserve for which no payment was made; and provision of expert evidence testimony before the Tribunal.
Once we have identified individuals who could meet our requirements, we will contact these individuals and request proposals for our client to consider for contracting purposes.
